Gett Introduced as Strength Coach for the Express

Strasburg, VA – The Strasburg Express are thrilled to introduce Alex Gett as Strength Coach for the Express this coming summer. This will mark the first time in the short Express history that a Strength Coach will be available to the team.

Gett comes to the Express with quite an impressive resume. A native of Punxsutawney, PA, he played college baseball for the Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP). Gett was a four-year letter winner and named team captain during his senior season. At the conclusion of his collegiate career, Gett made a few stops in the Independent Baseball ranks, including the United League and Frontier League. This included appearing in the Frontier League Championship Series with the Washington Wild Thing during 2007.

At the conclusion of his professional baseball career, Gett returned to IUP as a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach from 2010-2013. During that time, he also served as an assistant coach for the Cotuit Kettlers in the prestigious Cape Cod League. Upon receiving his Masters Degree in Health and Physical Education in 2013, Gett accepted a strength and conditioning intern role with the University of Pittsburgh. He later accepted a similar position at Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC. In December 2013, Gett accepted a role as a minor league strength and conditioning coach for the Kansas City Royals. He worked with the Burlington Royals during the 2014 season and the Wilmington Blue Rocks during the 2015 season. His passion for optimizing athletic performance brought Alex to Shenandoah University where he completed his Doctorate of Physical Therapy in December of 2020. He is currently employed as a Physical Therapist at True Sports Physical Therapy.

In addition to the above, Gett is a certified strength and conditioning specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, as well as a Level 1 sports performance coach through USA Weightlifting.

The Express organization is absolutely thrilled to have Alex onboard for this summer! You can learn more about Alex by checking out his website at https://agprst.weebly.com/.
