Former Express Pitchers Named D1Baseball Top Prospects
Strasburg, VA - The Strasburg Express are thrilled to share that two former pitchers have been named to the D1Baseball.com Top 150 collegiate prospects for the 2019 MLB Draft.
Zach Peek (Winthrop Univ, Express 2017) checked in at #60 on the D1Baseball list. Peek just completed his sophomore season for the Eagles in which he logged 89 IP with a 3.74 ERA. He struck out 99 and only walked 24. He pitched this past summer in the presitigous Cape Cod League, where he finished with 27 K in 26 IP. For the Express in 2017, Peek was absolutely dominant on his way to being named the VBL top prospect by several associations. He finished with a 2.30 ERA across 43 IP with 48 K, 10 BB, and 30 H.
Keegan James (Mississippi State, Express 2016) came in at #120 on the websites list. In his first collegiate season returning from Tommy John, James helped Miss St make a run to the College World Series. He finished with a 4.34 ERA in 47.2 IP with 45 K's. James also pitched in the Cape Cod this summer, finishing with a 2.80 ERA in 18.2 IP. In 2016, James helped guide the Express to their 2nd consecutive VBL Championship. He logged 40.1 IP and finished with a 3.35 ERA and 35 K's.
